Dukes in 3rd place at end of Round 1

After a gutsy 29-27 bonus point win over Rockdale,  the Dukes sit in outright 3rd place, just 1 point behind 2nd.
This puts the Dukes in a great position leading into the 2nd round. The top of the ladder is clearly with the Vales, but 2nd through to 7th is only 2 wins apart making it the most even competition in many years.
As always injuries take their toll and the Dukes have seen at least 3 season ending and another 3 long stints. However, the addition of the Halligans team who have had some strong games of recent times and a particularly good win against local rivals the Harlequins has added depth to the squad.
Round 2 starts the weekend after the long weekend @ Burraneer where the porpoises form has been mixed in Round 1. But realistically all the teams in the Southern conference are still in with an opportunity of making the finals with possibly one exception being St George who are still struggling for numbers
So get behind your local team and support the Dukes.
There will be a pub run on this long weekend due to no games being played. It will start at the Captain Cook in the rocks. Watch this page for more details.
Make sure you wear your best (worst) suit. 1st beer on Dukeman for anyone in a bad suit.
