their first season and with 3 wins and 3 losses you can say its been a mixed
bag. We are very proud to be one of the newest clubs in Suburban Rugby
and would like to thank all the clubs who have welcomed us throughout the
trials and the opening 6 weeks of the competition. We can’t wait to meet
the rest of our Division 6 opposition in the 12 remaining games.
the pitch one of our wingers, Dennis Lee has made a big impact going into last
weekend as the top try scorer in any grade in Suburban Rugby. The efforts in
training and the game have been great and the boys should be congratulated the
way they have come together as a new unit thus far, I’d also like to
thank the players commitment off the field who achieved a great feat in selling
92 tickets to the Australia vs Wales game on 23rd June to friends
and family. Keep it up boys.
One thing the Dukes do pride themselves on is being
social and taking any opportunity to have some fun. In the last week the
Dukes have been in the Manly
Daily with their bus trip escapades at the Steine Hotel after a win against
the savers. This week having the first of our wet weather weeks, and no
wet weather games to play, what better way to spend the weekend, by having the
first annual Wet
Weather Weekend Pub Run. The run consisted of 12 pubs plus one warm
up pub for good measure and had a number of drinking rules, which fortunately
(or unfortunately depending on whether you were dishing out fines) were rather
well followed. 15 men and 1 woman started and the run finished at the
Fortune of war with 18 Men and 5 women. Then there was the obligatory
cool down pub. All in all a great day.
This weekend the Dukes take on the Clovelly Blowflies at
McKay Oval No.2 in Centennial Park and host our First Ladies day.

all the way through to the close, and there will be continuing ladies day into
Ladies Evening at the Iron Duke Hotel, where the Alexandria Dukes Band “Dr
Squish and the Jimmy Chews” will be playing.
