Rounds 6 and 7 Wraps and Round 9 vs Liverpool

Its been a few lean weeks for the Dukes with some disappointing results against Clovelly and Seaforth.  The weather has not help, washing out training last week and most probably this week.
The Round 7 Ladies day clash whilst a lopsided score saw the Cloey Blowies win 25-0 in terrible conditions, the Dukes played with a fair bit of mongrel, which kept the Clovelly forwards at Bay.  Only silly errors in broken saw the Clovelly team score.  The general consesus from the sideline from the ladies who enjoyed the catering, Jess Goff said “Good work on ladies day boys, it was great even with the weather.
Big Willy at Ladies Day
Special thanks to Mark “Big Willy” Wilcox for ensuring the girls glasses were suitably topped up.
The round 8 clash against Seaforth was one of those weekends, where injuries and player availablity make you want to cry as an administrator, Subbies deciding to play us on a Long Weekend leaving us
with 15 players available for the Seaforth Clash (But that’s for another
blog).
The club wants to thank the boys who put their bodies on the line to represent the Dukes against Seaforth in most cases out of position.
The Referee, Colin Dagger said “The Raiders and the Dukes put on a real good show of park
footy. Tense time for the ref as they both turned up in the same style black
and white footy jerseys but as the gentlemen they the dukes wore the all white
jersey provided by Raiders. Excellen stuff the Raiders ran home strong in the
end. Well done gentlemen!”
In Round 9 this week, the Dukes take on First placed Liverpool who have arisen from the ashes of their former club to be one of the powerhouses of Subbies Rugby.  The game is on at Dwyer Oval in Warwick Farm, kicking off at 3:15.
