Dennis Lee was up for Meldrum Player of the year and there was a lot of anticipation amongst the Dukes.
But it wasn’t to be, with the award going to Seaforth’s fly half. Dennis’ Bio for the night is below.
“In his first year of Rugby Union he has proven
to be a great competitor and a great asset, starting the year on the wing and
moving into the centres by the middle of the season, picking up the intricacies
of the game extremely well, dominating the tackle and the ruck.
and a two 3 try hauls against Dundas Valley and Burraneer. He is the leading try scorer for not only the
Alexandria Dukes RFC, but all of the Meldrum Cup with 20 tries (Next best on 11
tries). At the end of the Dukes regular
season, Dennis was 2nd on the list of try scorers for the Entire
Union and end up 5th overall after finals (Leader finished on 25).
Given the Dukes did not play in the finals and only having 15 games this year
Dennis came very close to the leading try scorer for the entire Suburban Rugby
see him be highly rated by any suburban club.
in his first year of Rugby as well as his nomination for Meldrum Cup player of
the year, the Dukes Committee, Players and Club Members are proud to have him
as a member of our club.”
