What's Occurring? – 25th February 2014

And so it begins……

So, what’s occurring this week I hear you ask?

Training moves to Wednesday nights for the full squad session this week and will continue through out the rest of the season.  The ground also changes this week, with us moving to the Vice Chancellors Oval at the Australian Technology Park in Everleigh (Redfern).  The map below shows the route from Redfern station.

Don’t forget Sarg will be continuing to run the Tuesday Fitness sessions down at Parry Park from 6pm.

Subbies 7’s

The NSW Suburban Rugby Union announced Magners as the sponsor of the Sevens Tournament.
There are 17 Subbies clubs are all set to participate in the Magners
Subbies Sevens Tournament at Wills Ground, the home of Canterbury RFC.
The Magners Subbies Sevens kicks off on this Friday night and possible Saturday should we finish first or 2nd in our pool.

If your not playing make sure you get down to support the boys who are.  Wills Ground is on Wardell road and is a 500 metre walk Dulwich Hill station which is on the Bankstown Line (T3).

The Pool matches for the Dukes are as follows:

  • 6:45 vs Kings Old Boys (Div 3)
  • 7:30 vs Canterbury (Div 5)
  • 8:15 vs Redfield Old Boys (Div 4)
  • 9:15 vs Lane Cove (Div 5)
I have also heard that Duke Man will be making an appearance.  So get down and support the Dukes in their first outing in 2014.

The Intra club trial has been scrapped as we could not get a ground to play it at.  We may look to do a beach session on the 8th and follow that up with a BBQ, but we’ll look at that next week.

We do however have 3 trials in consecutive weeks.

  • 15th March vs Harlequins and Canterbury @ Wills Ground
  • 22nd March vs Myall Mudcrabs* @ Tea Gardens (Nelson Bay) – Bus trip
  • 29th March vs  Woollondilly White Waratahs @ Woollondilly (Picton area)

*The 22nd will definitely be a bus trip.  We had planned to stay over night, but due to some logistical issues we will now be going up and back on the same day.  More info on costings, but the club will be covering the majority of the bus costs.
