What's Occurring? – 20th June 2014

  • Wallabies Vs France – 3rd Test
  • Dukes Junior Carnival and Family Day
  • Members Badge Draw

Saturday 21st June is a week off for the whole of the Suburban Rugby Union.  This is due to the 3rd and Final Test between the Wallabies and Les Bleus.

The Dukes have 53 supporters going to the match in the Suburban Rugby section in Bay 27.
The kick-off is 3pm and the curtain raiser is the NSW Subbies vs QLD Subbies Rep match which starts at 12:30.

The meeting point if you haven’t already picked up your tickets is the Bavarian Beer Café in the Entertainment Quarter from 12 noon.  The Dukes have a table booked for 20 people, so come and have a beer and some lunch before heading into the Stadium.

Saturday 28th June see the Dukes host a junior invitational Carnival and Family Day.
The Randwick Juniors previously ran this as an annual invitational event which a number of current Dukes played in and enjoyed.  However, over the last few years has been taken off the calendar due to the time and effort that it takes to run.  It is a shame that the kids miss out.
The inaugural Dukes junior invitational will be played at Nagle Park Maroubra.  It has 38 teams over 4 age divisions with approximately 400 players.  It also falls into line with the Dukes family day which we have been planning.  It is a great way for the Dukes to say thank you to the families in our club, but also to foster junior grass roots rugby as well giving back to the community in general.

We will would love to see past and present Dukes attend so make sure you pass on the open invitation to all your family and friends.

The day will include:

  • Junior Rugby from 8:30am til 2:00pm
  • Visit from Waratahs (including Tah man) from 11am
  • Senior Rugby starting at 2:15pm
    • Halligan Cup (2nd XV) vs Randwick @ 2:15pm
    • Meldrum Cup (1st XV) vs St George @3:15 pm
  • Jumping castles for the kids
  • Face Painting
  • Raffles and more

If you are available to help on the day, please get in contact with Billy Hodgetts on 0414217453, or email [email protected].  Billy will be putting together a roster for the day, but there will be 3 core shifts, Early Morning setup, Morning, and Afternoon.

The members badge draw will not occur this weekend due to no games being played.  However, the 28th June after the Family and Junior carnival, there will be a mega Jackpot draw at the Iron Duke Hotel for a whopping $450.

So if your not a member already there is still time to get in the draw, and if your a player and still aren’t 100% financial you need to make sure you are.

The members badge draw is brought to you by the Dukes great sponsor Loch Plumbing and Building.
