Round 1 Wrap
After the first full round of matches in the Meldrum cup the Dukes sit 3rd on the table after 4 bonus point wins and 3 losses where the Dukes were competitive to the final siren.

One of the major reasons for the Dukes being competitive in 2014 has been the  growth that has seen a Halligan Cup team added.  This has given depth that we have not previously had which has meant that the mid season injuries are not as hard as it once was and there is great competition for positions.

Halligans have had 3 good wins, 1 of which over our local rivals Sydney Harlequins. Losses coming only to 2 Division 1 clubs.

Wet Weather Pub Run
The wet weather pub run was on last Saturday and from all accounts was a successful bonding session and there may have been a scientific break in pub crawl training.
See the pictures below.

Scientific fact: Pub crawls are good for ones health.
Meldrum Cup Game 8 vs Buraneer
In the first round the game at Nagle Park was a hard fought affair with the Dukes getting the money 29 – 24, Burraneer earning themselves a bonus point with an after the whistle try to get within 7 points.  With the Porpoises having a solid win over perpetual front runners Clovelly, and the Dukes back in the winners circle after a tough win against Rockdale, it makes for a big game at John Dwyer Oval this Saturday.  Kick off is 3.15
